Can we have some appreciation please. I’ve been aware of him forever, but for some unknown reason only really recently started to listen to him properly and my giddy goodness he’s probably the closest to the perfect guitarist (for me) I’ve heard in a long time. The touch, tone, phrasing, vitality, personality is all there.

I mean this is vid is of a basic blues but it pisses all over the internet blues hero’s (naming no names) that are trotted out at the moment. The guys’ 60 this year and killing it.

    Sounding very Beck-like on that - I agree he’s a great player.

One of the things I really like about Landau is his blatant willingness to stomp on a pedal to take his solo where it needs to go

Very nice, more players should be trying and  playing double bucker strats. Every time I hear one (Jimmy Herring too) I'm impressed.

Welshboyo beat me to it but Lukather reckons there's no one better at Hendrix or Hendrix-inspired than Landau.

He's certainly versatile and diverse and probably more so than his friends and LA session contemporaries like Lukather, Huff and Michael Thompson. From syrupy, processed pop sessions for Wilson Phillips to a sideman for Joni Mitchell or his jazz-fusion moments or even his very raw, grungey/Hendrix band, The Raging Honkies, he has a pretty unique voice and sound.

To my surprise his new CD was one of the "featured artists" on prominent display in the local HMV (yes there's still a few stores around - Canterbury).  Purchased :-)
