No right/wrong answer here, just opinion.

Does this amplifier sound British, American, or something else?

Guitar being played is a Strat

British, to me - it has that of Vox-type woody barky sound.

I will now be completely wrong :).

Sounds British to me as well, I find American Style amps sound a bit more fuzzy.

I initially thought Vox-ish but towards the end it had a bit more of a Fendery flavour, without going full-blackface.

Something like my Badcat with a blackface-voiced boost switched on. I liked it whatever it was

    I was being serious btw.
I heard it as a British amp with an American overtone/accent.

You should call it the 'Canuck'.

It sounds Vox-ish to me too. It could have been built anywhere, there being Vox-inspired amps from quite a number of UK and International makers.

FWIW I didn't particularly like that Strat sound through it, but one man's meat etc ;)

Having played through a Marshall Jubilee at tFB Huddersfield Jam, set on the edge of break-up - I’d say British.

When I heard the recording of what I played, I thought it sounded quite Tweed-like - and really good. In the room, I didn’t like it because ‘I don’t get on with Marshalls’.

Which leads me to believe you can’t generalise....

Sounds like a Vox AC15 to me, with the caveat of mic placement etc etc  ;)

Sounds American to me, almost like a brownface fender through a 'british' sounding speaker.

    Lots of middle going on. Sounds Vox-y / Matchless-y / Bad Cat-y ?

Sounds like an American amp with a tube screamer type overdrive, presence rolled down and mids wacked all the way up.

    Thanks, everyone so far.

This is a new amplifier that I'm about to release and have deliberately kept audio recordings at a low quality for various reasons.

If I told you that it uses KT66 output valves, would you be surprised?

No. The sound of the amp is not very dependent on the valves.

That depends on the dealers who will be stocking it ;)

    Somewhere in the middle.

The difference is more down to the speakers than the amp anyway - essentially, a Marshall JTM45 is a tweed Bassman with Celestions and sounds 'British', and an AC30 - which has a totally different circuit and valves, but also Celestions - still sounds 'British'.

    The JTM45 also uses KT66s...
