WTB: bass

I could do with a 2nd bass, probably thinking of something cheap and cheerful - maybe a bitsa, or a precision or a 5 string jazz but I’m pretty much open to offers if you have one you might sell.

Sire are just about to bring out their Marcus Miller V3 range (Andertons will be stocking them as of April) and they're £234 new and feature various elements of the very successful Marcus Miller V7. I've got one of the latter (an earlier run) and it's a fantastic bass and they've been picked up by a lot of players with more expensive basses.

In more recent times, I've noticed quality control can be a bit hit and miss or they may require a tweak or two but Andertons have healthy stocks of these basses and so, as with most stuff, just try one until you find a goody.

If they are anything like the V7s, they should be great value and players.

Thanks for the heads up - I was going to grab one from Thomann but the delivery date kept getting put back so I bought a cabronita.   I’ll almost certainly grab a 5 string sire later in the year though - it’ll be interesting to compare the mahogany bodied v3 models with the v7.

I have a surplus to requirements Dean Edge fretless. It would not be terribly expensive.

Here be pictures. It's not terribly easy to photograph, but it is slightly transparent black. I did not find any scratches or dinks on it, the fingerboard is in pretty much as-new condition.

What are the dimensions of the pickup routs?

101.6mm by 37.9mm - at least that's the size of the pickups from some digital vernier. The routs are pretty tight to the pickups.

Also it is active - not sure if the battery hatch is visible in the photos. I can have a go at taking more in daylight if that'd be useful.

Close enough for rock 'n' roll and exactly the correct size for EMG-40 soapbar pickups ... of which, unfortunately, I have none.  :'(

    No further questions, m'lud.
