Spear Of Destiny - One Eyed Jacks (1984)

I know it was panned a bit at the time, John Peel especially wasn't impressed with the single 'Prisoner Of Love' but I really like Spear Of Destiny's 'One Eyed Jacks' album. Good songs and Brandon is on good form singing his heart out with some nice guitar tones from Alan St Clair's guitar (is that a Gretsch? through a Fender Band Master?).

They used to play a bit of their stuff on scooter rallies in the 80's. Liberate was always a fave back in the day.

Not listened to them for a long time but saw them live several times. IIRC their manager had previously been the Ents manager where I did my degree so they used to not only gig there but also warm up gigs there. I remember seeing them play during a holiday to a tiny* audience. Not sure I can remember a song apart from Westworld though. 


* numerically small, it wasn’t higher education exclusively for people of restricted growth.

Never Take Me Alive was their biggest hit I think. 

I’ve got Outland, which that’s on, but I haven’t listened to it for years and I’d honestly struggle to name another track.

Liberator was a big one, early on.

I never really liked Outland - the first three albums were my faves, esp. One-Eyed Jacks.
