NGD - Fender Masterbuilt Telecaster '67

I was 50 last July, and was born in 1967.

I'd had this crazy idea that I'd have a genuine vintage '67 Tele for my 50th... but after playing many vintage guitars (and whining at the prices!), I realised that this was not going to happen. It was a daft and penultimately too expensive notion...

So, the search continued, probably for around 18 months or so. Vintage 60s, vintage 70s, Custom Shop, Gretsch, Collings etc.

I bought a couple of geetars, had a few false starts, and played many up and down the country.

I finally settled on a gorgeous CS '62 Lake Placid Blue Custom, which many of you have seen. It was a lovely guitar, but I have historically loved my heavy relics with worn, sanded necks. The LPB '62 is an incredibly resonant guitar, and it a hand hand wound pick up combo of twisted tele/nocaster and I realise that I love this combination...

Then, out of the blue, one of forum regulars reached out to me with this guitar - knowing that I generally have more money than sense...

I already own a Masterbuilt Strat, and I absolutely love that.

So, you know the rest; the deal was done, and here is the final part of the jigsaw - Wazmeister 50th Birthday gift.

The spec is exactly what I would have custom ordered, if I could've afforded a new MB.

2010 Custom Shop Limited 1967 Masterbuilt Heavy Relic Tele by Dennis Galuszka - guitar weighs 7 lbs 2 ounces, color is "Aged Vintage White", lightweight alder body, quartersawn maple neck with '60's oval "C" shape that measures: 1st fret - .862", 12th fret - .956", 9.5" fingerboard radius with 6105 fretwire, Broadcaster bridge pickup that reads - 9.77K, Twisted Tele neck pickup that reads - 5.78K, modern wiring. Pick ups are apparently Abby hand wounds, according to the spec sheet.

Big thanks to all who made it happen

Yep, that looks great. Pick guard definitely needs a wipe though.

    My thoughts exactly

Looks great Warren. I hope it's a keeper
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

It’s funny about the scratch plate...

All the ones I’ve owned I wanted to dirt them up a bit, and make them look aged. So this one is perfect :)

    Phwoah. That's tasty. Congratulations!

Funnily enough, I've got something vintage white with some rosewood in the wings... It's a great combination.
