I'm going to see Nada Surf next month at a small but perfectly formed venue in Cambridge. They've always been really good live.
My wife asked me to stop singing Wonderwall.
    I said maybe.....

Coincidentally, the Posies have just announced that they are doing a 30th anniversary tour with the Frosting lineup. Just the four dates in the UK, London, Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester. Dates are in October.

Matchbox Twenty were the first band I got seriously into and will always have a massive soft spot for them. Superb live as well, incredible how different their success was in the US compared to here.

When I went to the States in about 2001 for the first time they were on almost every radio station and playing in almost every bar and restaurant

So many great bands mentioned already, but Buffalo Tom and Drop Nineteens also worth a mention:

    Buffalo Tom - Taillights Fade

    Drop Nineteens - Winona

You beat me to it! I was reading through this thread planning on posting both of these :)

All I got left is Creeper Lagoon and Dropline.

Good shout with the Gigolo Aunts (Where I Find My Heaven is a banger), they've toured with Counting Crows quite a bit.

Wilco are another great band too.

Will give the Posies a listen this afternoon and stick Redd Kross and Sloan on the list too!

If there's enough interest, might start a public Spotify Playlist that people can add to.
@joneve I need this Spotify playlist! Counting Crows, Matchbox 20 and Third Eye Blind are some of my favourite bands!
How about Spin Doctors? Two Princes is a genre defining song and Pocket Full of Kryponite has some amazing songs and incredible guitar playing on.

My boss told me "dress for the job you want, not the job you have"... now I'm sat in a disciplinary meeting dressed as Batman.

Have you seen how Counting Crows are doing a 25th anniversary tour for August and Everything After? Although I’ve only seen US dates (supported by Live) announced so far but I’m hoping for a good UK tour :-)

One of the best, a true genius! .. those moves @ 39:08

His one minute throwaways are better than most people's Magnum Opuses.

Bee Thousand & Alien Lanes are essential GBV listening.

Yes - both total classics. Prefer Bee Thousand slightly myself, but probably only cos I got into it first. Think I've probably got about 80% of Bob's output over the years, but wouldn't pretend it is all gold! Last 3 GBV albums have been pretty strong though

How about Pavement, Mercury Rev, Dinosaur Jr, Califone/Red Red Meat, Sonic Youth, Beck. John Spencer Blues Explosion...  or are they something else?

Yes, They are something better, primarily not foppy, wet shite.

There was so much good grunge around that time this little niche sub genre made up of American sitcom theme music should never have been given the air to breathe

    Awful

I'll sort something out this week mate! Work has been manic, but should find some time during lunch this week to create one.
