Line6 M9 issues

My M9 has just today started to produce a subtle digital distortion type sound, right at the tail end of a long sustained chord or note
This happens even when the unit is bypassed (but not when I plug directly into amp).

Has anyone else experienced this/ fixed this problem pls?

Is the unit in buffered mode or true bypass? Have you tried alternating between the two?

Are you using the original Line 6 power supply?

Tried buffered mode and true bypass - makes no difference.
The power supply I use is a 'cheapy' equivalent as the unit is from the States. Perhaps that is the issue. I've dropped it into a repair technician so we'll wait n' see I guess.

The M9 needs something like 1200mA, so it may be that your cheapy power supply doesn't have the juice to run it properly.
