Squier "pro-tone" Tele / USA Tele Neck

Hi all,
I'm looking at a used pro tone tele, and i'm thinking of putting a USA tele maple neck on it, as the frest look pretty beaten up, and i prefer maple... Will this work does anyone know ?
Anyone had any experience of these Pro-tone teles ? Quite a few good write ups online...

I had a Thinline for a while - pretty garish looks wise, weighed a ton as well..But nicely put together and sounded fine..Rumoured to be Mighty Mite pickups. Bought, then traded it for £140 if that helps.....
I tried to replace the selector switch with a US 4 way for series
wiring, but it was too oversized for the body,
No idea if the neck would fit, but mixing Imperial (US) parts and Eastern (Metric, generally smaller) parts can be problematic, without modding it a bit -drilling, routing, widening and stuff.
