Havent got the space for an MD500 or Mobius but I need something that can replicate my old TC SCF's chorus and flanger modes, also a nice phaser is a must.

Univibe / harmonic trem would be a great addition but not strictly essential

Whats the top picks these days? - H9 is out of budget too.

Normally I'd say "Line 6 M5", but it's not much smaller than an MD-500 and has a rubbish univibe.

    Zoom MS70CDR?

The TC Corona has specific flanger tone prints so you can recreate an SCF in a single box. Won't help much with the others though.

The Keeley Mod Workstation or Super Mod Workstation would tick all your boxes and  not as big as you might think. Not programmable in any way ( other than you get two separate channels of modulation on the Super) so you'd have to knob twiddle.

  • Source Audio One Series. The chorus, flange or phaser, doesn't matter which, it will do the other two effects and you can store six presets and access them using the switch on the pedal.

The Matthews Effects Chemist ticks almost all your boxes, but with pitch rather than flange in addition to the chorus and phaser.

This, the Corona models sound the same as the TC version. It has 5 or six other flanger models but not the TC version. It should get close enough.

I enjoyed the TC nova-mod I had, multiple presets and no bigger than a h9. Only sold it to fund a Mobius.

the 12v power requirement is a bit of a pain though, and live switching of presets wasn't the easiest.

probably should've said, I already have a qmod and I like the phaser and trem, but the chorus isnt remotely close to my old CE2 or the SCF (The flanger is very close to the SCF though surprisingly)

I seem to get a subtle noticeable double tracking effect on the chorus setting that really sounds off to me (doesnt happen on the SCF or CE2)

Hence im currently using the Qmod for phaser and trem and the SCF for chorus and flanger.

Soon to have a mad prof snow white auto wah for the envelope filter thing too.

So i need something that can cover the bases of the SCF (a GREAT chorus and flanger but also have a phase 90ish sound and univibe and/or rotary)

Not into the idea of a traditional multi fx thing.

Does anyone know if source audio are planning a nemesis/ventris style modulation unit? it seems to be perfect for what i need.

Not much to be done about preset switching, but it runs fine on 9VDC (and comes with a 12V supply IIRC, which makes life a little easier).

I liked mine too- it went as part of a non-essentials purge to raise money for something or other.

Not cheap and not that widely available, there's a bigger version with presets as well. You can fiddle with the sounds on an app and Positive Grid make much of the authenticity of their models. So you should be able to get the sounds you are chasing.

The Zoom is really good at chorus, rotary, vibe effects, as well as delay and reverbs but the Flanger and Phaser are basic, and the models within it are ok and there is a Small Stone available when you update the firmware, but give it a whirl if you can as I/many rate the pedal overall and it's great value for money.
