Ha ha I did see that post a few minutes ago but put mine out anyway just incase. Ive read some people are downloading and grabbing the vst  for reaper and then uninstalling. worth it?

That'd be a bit of a waste of time. Reaper's plugins are free for any DAW:

sorry i meant downloading cakewalk and grabbing the vsts to keep in Reaper.

Ahhh, OK. I suspect there'll be something in the Cakewalk EULA that prohibits that (at least, it'd be true to form for that kind of software).

Cakewalk came with a lot of VST bundles, Melodyne etc, but my understanding is that all the third party stuff has been removed from the free version. I've never been able to get the actual cakewalk plugs to work in other daws...

Apparently If you add the cakewalk file to your vst plug in path you can get a lot of vsti, vst and dx plugins in Reaper. Cakewalk drum kit is sample based and works fine in reaper. 
I dont know anything about this sorry just read it hope it helps.
