Graceland Remixes - Paul Simon .. when an idea goes wrong

Graceland is being reissued in a remixed form. It was a great album which sold zillions. I just don't get this .. it's so bad its comical. Sounds like a load of wannbe's in their bedrooms with a few samples and a free DAW. Can't see who this is aimed at ..

You've been warned ...

Graceland (this is the best one .. :-) )

This is unlistenable ... You can call me Al

This is also bad ... the Boy in the bubble

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

I've never understood why anyone ever listens to these sorts of remixes of *anything*. I don't think there's ever been one worth even 1% of any great original song.

    The Graceland one was good.

The You Can Call Me Al one was shit. Which is odd, because Groove Armada are usually pretty decent.

I quite like the Boy In The Bubble one.

I do normally like a lot of this sort of thing, they're often interestingly different takes on the songs. Don't think I would buy this album though... it probably doesn't work as a complete package. It's better when it's a lot of songs by different original artists done by the same remixer, rather than the other way round.

"It was a slow day..."  He got that right.  Has Paul Simon got an alimony bill to pay? I can't think of any other reason to inflict such pedestrian dross beats on an unsuspecting public.

I'm not a fan so I'm not really bothered, but from the sounds of it not many existing fans will want to buy it and non-fans definitely won't.

Why isn't it being released as a 2-disc set with the original album, so anyone who was toying with buying that can get the remixes as a bonus?

(Or have they already done a Deluxe Edition?)

I could imagine hearing the Graceland one when on holiday - daytime pool / bar bland background music

Ohh my goodness.. Your warning wasn't harsh enough...  Just terrible... Love the original album, still listen to it sometimes.

Who is it aimed at. Drugged up clubbers who cant tell the difference between one song and the next as they are so off their tits and they all sound the same anyway...

Just listened to the original album, so cheers for that.

Don't think I can stand the remixes tbh!
