...like me, everyone is taking full advantage to augment the fading process on their Les Pauls...

I really like the cherry red in a 'burst Les Paul, but I've only recently discovered that I'm one of the few; always thought it was the most desired, like a two-tone sunburst and maple Strat.

You can have a 'wow', but get a guard on them dammit!
    Well me too re cherry.

But your 'guard' remarks made me puke a little, into my mouth :confounded:

We're gonna see a lot of 'help, my les paul neck is shaped like a quaver' threads this summer.
    Exactly my thoughts.

Perhaps its best to buy a guitar in the colour you actually want?

I can think of a LOT of better things to be doing when the suns out, baking my guitars and dealing with neck issues etc ain't one of them.... But each to their own :D

    Hmmm.

my lezzers are a bit pink and sore today. Relative merits of Piz Buin vs Ambre Solaire for nitro finishes?

Serious question... why are you trying to fade them? and as others have alluded to...is it possible you could end up with warped necks.?

Er no because they never look the same as a faded burst but you need to start off with a cherry red that fades and they all fade differently anyway, it's what i like about old bursts

I suspect if they were left in the sun long enough, then yes: but this is the U.K., and it never got above about 7 degrees :D

People get them painted the colour they want in a light fast uv resistant dye, originally they all started off cherry sun bursts until 60 when they changed the dye so it didn't fade, there are lots of different variations like how ambered the clear coats are or how much blue is in the cherry dye etc
Darkbursts and tobacco bursts are painted differently but they still fade to some degree
