I love my missus and kids more than anything, if for some reason we every split up, I would never have a serious relationship again, just enjoy the peace and quiet and guitar playing and watching something on tv I liked....

There's a reason why wimmin put themselves up on dating websites - they're either mingers or batshit crazy, sometimes both. Yep, I've had a look, but maybe they only show you the mingers or the crazy ones until you pay, but hell, for what's in the shop window, I ain't payin' NOTHING!

If there's no-one you like that's eligible in the places you usually go (work, your local, any sports/hobbies you're into) you might as well just take it as read that you're not meant to find anyone. Looking outside those places is unlikely to find you anyone with a shared or common interest, and when you consider the number of humans on this planet and think that out of all that number there must be one that's right for you, perhaps it's as well to consider that the chances of meeting that person are probably less than 1 in 2 to the power of your council tax bill, so sit down with the cat on your lap and consider yourself lucky not to be spending wallet-loads of money on wooing the person who one day is likely to take your house off you.
"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)
Seriously: If you value it, take/fetch it yourself

Phil, it's amazing you're single with an outlook like that.

I must tell my wife she’s either a minger or crazy.  ;)

  • Like a lot of people on here I play guitar in a band, so am regularly gracing venues up and down the country on Friday/Saturday nights. Someone told me when I was younger playing guitar will get you girls but its not how its cracked up to be. I hardly ever get anyone approaching me after I've just played, presumably as its more common that people play the guitar these days than 20 odd years ago where it was a cool thing not many people could do.

I think for someone to like you it has to come from within first, you have to like yourself. If you can give off the impression you're a good laugh and fun to be with its a good start. Be yourself, nobody likes a fake or someone who tries too hard. Girls like confidence in guys, but often its seen the wrong way, like arsehole cocky types usually get the pretty girls who don't know any better but deserve better. The amount of girls I know who've gone out (and stay) with a prick I've lost count, but they'd rather stick with him than be alone!

The new craze is obviously all these dating apps and swipe left shit, mainly as smartphones run people's lives these days, I'm not into that shit. I still find it cool people meet in real life first, in the most random situations, e.g asking for directions in the street. Who does that anymore?

I'd echo the advice from others to join clubs and stuff where there's loads of other women, even if you don't score with one of them directly, they will have friends who have friends. And if you're not in the shop window you ain't going to be bought!

@rocktron - I deleted those copy-pastes of yours because there's malware and lots of NSFW images in the links. Please be more careful next time, eh?
Sorry, I should not have posted them here.

The antivirus software on my laptop block most of these e-mail I am inundated with, except the straight text e-mail, and pictures from dating websites which appear to be legit and which go to my Spam Folder.

I am reluctant to hit the Unsubscribe button, which would then confirm my e-mail address to the senders. So, I just delete the e-mail from my Spam Folder.

I take your point about NSFW, and malware.

    Shih Tzu = babe magnet!
When my dog was a puppy, as the fat old fart that I am, I couldn't believe the number of women that would approach me and start asking me about him. Some real crackers.. and they would want to chat for ages. He still garners attention from the ladies now, even at 12 years old...  :)

So. Pottery classes, near fatal bike accidents, and small fluffy dogs *takes notes*

Although, to judge by his post that got nuked,  @rocktron looks like he's seeing more action than Mick Jagger's wedding tackle.

I think by far the most important attribute that women like in blokes is confidence. If you come over as even a teeny bit desperate then you've blown it.
This is absurd.  You don’t know what you’re talking about.  It warrants combat.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) I’ve been put the game for nearly 20 years but I was thinking about this the other night - what would I do!

I think online dating is just an additional stream but not essential. It probably wouldn’t be for me...

As far as I can tell, people still go to pubs and clubs. People still meet at work and sports/hobby clubs and through mutual acquaintances.

I’ve heard of singles clubs as well - not necessarily the best place to meet a potential partner but the days and nights out get you socialising in different places with different people.

If all else fails buy a Thai bride.

I did know someone who went the Thai bride route. He seems very happy with the arrangement, don’t know how she feels about it although she seemed okay* when I met her briefly.
He has taken early retirement and they spend the winter months in Thailand, the rest of the year in his house in West Bromwich.

    * no obvious visual signs of his brutality.

I know someone who’s on his second. He used to joke about ‘just’ getting another one if ‘she’ wasn’t meeting with his approval. It didn’t work out so he did just that...they weren’t actually Thai but far eastern...

so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

confidence is a byproduct of courage. just like having big muscles is a byproduct of weight-training. you can exercise your 'courage muscle' anywhere you find women, and there are plenty of women in sainsburys.

Which English accent is the most appealing to americans though? Are they into scousers, geordies, brummies, or cockneys?
