Epi dot. Hot pickup

Hi all. Question. On my epiphone dot. If I put the selector in the middle position the neck pickup seems to be a lot louder then the bridge and it's hard to get a nice balance.

Is there any reason for that? Someone said to me it's a wiring issue? If so what issue?

Any help is appreciated.

are the neck and bridge in either up and down position the same volume ?

also is it new? or any prior mods you know of.

There is a difference in volume yes but I'm not sure if that's just cause one sounds thicker?

Was brought second hand but owner made no mention of mods. Said it had been siting in it's case since brought.

exactly that.

if one's too bassy or wooly you can drop the bass side to match the volumes/output better.

pickup heights make a world of difference.

That had crossed by mind and I'd tried a while ago but it didn't make much difference.

Tried again today made a bit of difference again but not much so had a go at the pole pieces, screwed them quite far down and it's getting there. Just need to balance then now.

I have had some guitars in for repair where there is usually an N for Neck and B for bridge pickups, but both pickups have been either N or B , this hardly helps, but pickup height adjustment first. Also check the tone controls on your amp, you might have more bottom end emphasis which can also make the neck pickup seem louder as it's a tad "boomy"
