Hey all, what sort of price would you expect to pay for a player grade but well looked after 1964 Gibson SG Standard with Vibrola etc ?

need additional info - player grade says to me changes, refin and/or repair work

    original case
    original pick-ups
    original finish or refin
    any headstock breaks or repairs
    any refret
any other 'negative' issues to report

    update accordingly

Vintage Gibson but not original case
    Pickups not original
    back of neck refinished
    neck reset
    no headstock break
    refretted
    no other issues

    I'd say around £4-5k.

I'd probably go a bit less especially if a private sale

The neck re-set might not be an issue as chances are many won't notice, if done well
    No breaks is good news
Pick-ups - you can find p/ups from this era if required - still desirable but not the original holy grail paf models
refret - IMO no issue if done well and should enhance the playability if done well
Refin - depends how well it is done

Not sure if it is this guitar but something similar at the last G&H auction

I'd probably be suggesting closer to 4K - after that then it will depend on how much you like it and want it

    Overall a desirable guitar

Ask @Blacksheep if he still has the one I sold him as I think he was selling it. Much less ‘wrong’ with it and a very good price.

Alternatively @jumping@shadows has some amazing players grade SG’s I’m sure.

I got a really solid (original frets, case, no breaks or wiring work) 1969 SG Standard from Atoyboy end of last year - sounds amazing and plays great - paid about £3400 from memory, just instant Angus!

Absolutely earlier into the 60s will go for more, but honestly the t-tops in a SG are amazing
