Buffing?

So my build is looking quite great now. It's shiny and pretty and stuff.

However, I'd like to buff it a bit to get it even nicer. I was going to very gently rub down with some 12000 grit micro mesh (I tested and 6000 removes wudtone quite quickly), then polish it back up.

Any tips? Is this a terrible idea? Material recommendations? I'll be doing it once I've finished the neck, which will be a couple of weeks at least, so it'll have plenty of time to cure a bit harder.

I tried using micro mesh for a finish and it wasn't great. I've tried various rubbing compunds including T-Cut and Farecla but I've found the best stuff  the burnishing cream sold by David Dyke

They recommend using paper, which works but I'd like to go a step further. I'll see how it goes...
