Flame Maple Hologram

What's Hot

Was looking earlier at my new guitar from a different angle as it was lying on my bed and I noticed that the two halves of the body don't seem to match at all - one side barely even looked flamed and I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed this before.

Then when I went closer to it the flames appeared out of nowhere! It's like one of those hologram football cards you get that change depending on the angle you look at it.

It is a hologram.... created in wood grain by nature

Do you get the same effect with the control knobs as well ;-)

Inspection inside the pickup cavities will reveal the relative thicknesses of the flamed veneer and the remainder of the maple cap.

Older readers may remember the Fender Fotoflame finishes of the Nineties. (Cort is using something similar today on a few instruments.) From a distance, it looks impressive. Up close, it is all too obvious that the "flame" is not shifting as the angle of incidence of the light source shifts.

    lol

It's weird, from one angle the knobs seem to completely disappear and you can almost see the pot shafts!

The reason there's no knobs is cause I forgot that when I switched the pots to CTS, the knobs it came with wouldn't fit on so I'm waiting for the right size ones to arrive

My 2015 LP Standard was just the same - a completely different look to the top if you turned it around, with the grain floating on top.  Classy in fact.

Aye it's quite a cool wee quirk really, the other side does it at the exact opposite angle.

Most of the time it looks like matching flames. If it looked like that a lot of the time I'd have possibly returned it
