Wax to fix pickup cover to pickup

Hi,

A question aimed at our resident pickup manufacturers...

I just got a replacement cover for my Kinman Tele neck pickup.

They are designed to be held in place with wax and are supposed to come with the appropriate amount of wax already inside the cover (you just melt it and push in the pickup). However, Kinman "goofed" and didn't put the wax in.

They say to use "candle wax" - is this a generic thing? ie. are all candles made from the same/similar stuff so there's no chance of buying the wrong stuff that might screw up the pickup?

The little parafin wax tea lights should do the trick.

The real question is why on earth are they $30 ?

Yeah, Kinman aren't the cheapest. I like their pickups though. I have them on my Strat, Strat XII, and Tele.

Are the Kinman Tele covers now metal? As far as I'm aware mine's plastic with a very thin Nickel layer on the top.

Yes, the Gen-1 covers are/were plastic, the Gen-2 are nickel-silver:
