Guitars to practice filing, sanding, etc

I've purchased some tools to work on my own guitars. Fret file, sanding, etc. But I'm new to luthering, where do you get some cheap guitars to practice on? Gumtree has one or two, but I don't want to buy a kit build just to practice

I bought a second hand squier standard strat for £100 and practiced painting, sanding, setting up, changing pickups and hardware and the lot on.  Sold it for  what I paid for the guitar and all the bits so basically a free practice tool.
