Stacking pedals vs switching to a higher gain for lead tones ?

Just experimenting with a board layout.    At the moment I’m running wah into a ceriatone Klon into a king of tone and el cap.  Today into a fender twin but I’m equally likely to use a clean Marshall.

With the kot set set for both sides on od and usual 2 o clock knobs. The Klone set as slightly break up and and tiny volume boost.

I can easily get some lovely tones stacking them from edge of break up through to mid gain and problwvy cover all the rhythm sounds I’d need but I can find a combination of pedals and settings that sustains for solos.

Any advice would be appreciated - I’m more used to switching pedal than stacking them. I suspect I need something with more sag like a pinnacle and switch to that for lead sounds but would I actually be better with another mid gain eg a bb preamp stacked at the end for a final boost?
