I seem to remember there were 2 construction methods with these? Did they alter the way the neck joined the body?

Yes, early ones have a longer heel joint, the later ones have better higher fret access.

These are great guitars.  17" body, not too deep, so comfortable to play and 25.5" scale. Laminate, so not as prone to feedback as carved tops. Ideal Jazz guitar with Flats.  Great for general use with rounds.   I've got a 1961 and it's my favourite large body archtop.

That is a pristine example, great price. GLWTS

Ever since I saw yours I have wanted one
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I’m going to price drop this but just once to a firm £3k, figure there’s no point in waiting for a haggle!

    Hi Jimmy,
If it hasn't sold by the end of the month, drop me a line and I'll happily include it in July's mailout to the London Jazz Guitar Society (£1000+ recipients).

Looks great, I had a '61 Custom many years back. Phenomenal guitar. 2 questions about yours, if you have time; any reason there is a "custom" truss rod cover on a regular model? (doesn't bother me), and what is the nut width? Cheers

No idea re truss cover but I have also had a ‘66 in the past and it too had a custom cover so must be a ‘thing’. Nut width is 1 9/16”

Very playable. It's just 1/16 of an inch narrower than a strat's nut width.
