Picked this up from the always very pleasant guys at The Little Guitar Shop earlier today. It is a 1981 Tokay Early Love Rock Goldtop and seems to be in good overall condition and has a neck that fits my hands great.

Quick pic.

Lovely guitar! Agree about the covers!

I keep my eye on Tokai stock at The Little Guitar Shop as they usually get some nice stuff in.

I'm still trying to dig into the details of these as originally built. This guitar is believed to be original and the few pictures that I can find show uncovered PU's for the period, but they seem to be allen key pole pieces rather than screws. It is an 'Inkie' so the SN is in ink rather than stamped in which is clearly not as robust as a stamp.

Thanks all. So far it’s a joy to look at and play, and great fun trying to find out about it (if with a certain amount of trepidation) :o

Is it a LS80? I have been looking for a Gold one for ages, they are rare as hens teeth!

    They are great guitars. Enjoy!

.... shoot me a message if you’d ever like to sell it

@Emiel - This one is an LS60. One piece maple cap, two piece mahogany body and no fret nibs.

This is a so called 'Inkie' i.e. it has a SN that is in black ink rather than stamped and I understand it there were only LS50s and 60s made as Inkies.

Sunny day off, so tried a few gratuitous pictures of my Tokai LS 60 GT. It is a paler champagne gold colour in the flesh and the bottom of my shed needs painting!

Looks very nice.  Either they had two, or they haven't updated the web site yet, because it looks like it's still there :)
