Beefy strats?

What's Hot

So when I say beefy strats, I dont mean one made of meat, because that's just silly!

What would a beefy strat sound like? Not a hss or hh strat, a sss strat with real heavy blues rock attitude.

Alder body. Big ol' neck. "Lam" rosewood fingerboard.

Of the Fender products, this means the AVRI '65 or the Custom Shop Stratocaster with Nocaster sized neck.
    Be seeing you.

From what I’ve watched and heard the 69 Custom Shops tend to sound a bit beefier, than the earlier 60s and 50s models.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

The Ancho Poblano Strat sounds pretty beefy.  Nocaster neck, big frets, alder body, thin finish, relatively hot pickups.

  • When I hear mention of beefy Strat sounds I immediately think of Biffy Clyro. Simon Neil drags some immense sounds out of his strats (albeit using lots of pedals).

57 starts at the 18min mark. Clean to distorted in the stamp of a foot v

My Aerodyne Strat was a total beast compared to all the other strats I’ve played. And that was the total opposite of all you’d think would make a hefty rock machine. Always more than one way to skin the cat I guess.

Billie Joe Armstrong's "Blue" strat. Got a Seymour Duncan JB in there, I think he may have change it recently though.

I got my bravewood built with a mahoosive neck and nice slab of rosewood. As big as my r7. Also stuck SD antiquity Texas hots in there. It is a seriously meaty sounding strat.

Yup, I have one and it's my favourite strat that I've owned. And played for that matter.

Depends on the wood.  I've got a rosewood board AVRI that's relatively dark sounding.  It sounds big on the bridge pickup, without that spiky top end that some have.  I've also got a Classic Series Strat that is a lot brighter sounding unplugged, and sounds thinner plugged in.

Tone control and baseplate on the bridge pickup will also help take away that spikiness, and then turn the gain up a bit.
