How to age an anodised pickguard?

What's Hot
As above.. I have a pristine one that I would like to dull down to match my relic strat..

i have not managed to get one i am happy with yet, mostly because the modern anodised guards are a bit too brassy in colour, but a gentle rub down with wet & dry seems to help, focusing on the high wear areas

Is it lacquered? I find that scuppers any usual relic attempts and needs dealing with first.

After that, a scotchbrite pad cut to the right size can add some good play wear, but it depends on how "used" you want it..

Don't think so.. Think I'll have a go as per the above.. Good thing is you can always make a hash of the underside first;)

Any scrubber will do the job - just depends on how authentic you want it ;)

When I did mine I used 1k wet n dry...wet, it took forever but it meant the "wear" was very smooth and scratch free, but also it meant I couldn't go too far too quickly

Got some wet and dry I'll give it a go. Only want to take the edge off the guard not trash it so should do the trick!

Take it easy - less is more etc.. and do it in good daylight (ask me how I know!)

I’d get a bit of dirt on there too.. bit of boot polish, some soil that sort of stuff. Looking good tho!
