I'd make a holiday of it and fly to the states to get one. Bring it back in pieces in your suitcase. Best fun trip ever.

I'd probably steer clear of guitar point myself. You don't have to look very hard around various forums to discover they have something of a reputation.

and there is the problem: super high prices for rare and potentially fake custom colours. A comment was made about the relative cheapness of a sunburst and how a custom colour premium might attract fakery. Looks like sunbursts can go from  3-4k ish which is more my price bracket.

I've yet to see a convincing 3 tone burst refin (even from people who are very well regarded at refins), so I would be more confident of buying a sunburst than a custom colour.

    That's if I wanted a Jag......

^ disagree strongly. Doesn’t sound like a Jaguar, and the new switches are ugly, and fix a problem that never was. As much as I like johnny, prefer real ones.

I hear you but I'm hankering for an original. That JM LPB model is a touch over £2k and a real original 1963/4 is not THAT much more!

Without being shirty are you trying to buy the best guitar you can or are you after a trophy?

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

We all want different things fella.
I've gone vintage and not really seen what all the fuss is about. A good guitar is a good guitar. It can be fresh off the line or it can be old.

I can't begrudge you wanting what you want.

Osg is the place to get advice and their classifieds will probably open up a world of view tage opportunity

Osg is a specialist forum. There is only so much you can talk about when it comes to jags and jazzmasters.

Externally they all look good - for any significant cash though you’ll want to see gut shots, neck pocket, pots, pickups etc

Because of CITES you are going to be limited to buying a precbs Jag within the EU...……..If its a sunburst you are after they are not exactly rare, they do come up as private sales on EbayUK from time to time...…….Buying from a shop will be more expensive and should be "safer"...….but a lot of shops don't get many Jags or JMs and can overlook things RE originality.

If you see one you are interested in, and are concerned over originality, you need pics of the body neck pocket and all guts shots.

That ‘63 from Chicago music is stunning. They’re honest and accurate about their guitars and will declare however small the faults are. It’s a huge risk buying a vintage you haven’t played though and with Brazilian rosewood, the import process will be challenging.
