Tele alternative scratchplates

What's Hot
I’ve got a tele build going on currently - it will be stain and oil black body, rosewood fingerboard, maple neck, standard Tele bridge and pickup, standard control plate (all black hardware), gold foil neck pickup.

So... scratchplate.

Here are are a few inspirations I have gathered over the last little while (actually four out of hundreds). Any opinions as to shape and colours? I am inclined to b/w/b.

Second and third get my vote. I loke the "vents" in the second and the colour choice on the third...

Unfortunately, I agree with you all!

Think I’ll carry on until all else is done and then mock them up.

In some of the OP pickguard examples, the appeal of the outline depends very much on the pickup(s) mounted through it. e.g. The Firebird-inspired outline makes sense with a P90 or a small humbucker. It might look naff with some other pickup types.

Goldfoil pickups evoke the Japanese-made horrors of the Sixties and early Seventies. Therefore, the more colourful and over the top the plastic, the better.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

Is the body already routed, or could you drill the wiring channels instead of routing them, and avoid the need for a scratch plate?

The only routing so far is the control panel and the bridge pickup, however I prefer the look with a scratchplate

I’m starting to lean that way too. I’ll mock that one up first.

Pickups arrived from Mojo today do I need to get stuck in.
