I love these two but one of the problems with demoing high end guitars for a living is that occasionally one really catches your ear...that happened yesterday so I'm selling both of these to fund a £7000 custom build!

First up is a Lowden F35 with the Cuban Mahogany and Adirondack Spruce upgrade. Wonderful guitar with loads of volume - a perfect fingerstyle instrument but also great for strumming thanks to the Mahogany/Adirondack combination. About three years old, this model would retail for around £4999 now. Condition is very good, there are a few scuffs on the underside which can be buffed out and a small dink on the top. Comes with LR Baggs M1 pickup installed and Hiscox hard case, asking £3550.

Atkin D37

I bought this new from Ivor Mairants at the start of April this year for some Nashville style recording work. All that's done now so this one is surplus to requirements (a Lowden F35 and vintage Martin 00018 take care of most of my work). Excellent condition, basically new bar some natural slight wear to the neck lacquer where I spent too much time playing 'Cowboy chords'. Handmade in Canterbury, this is Alistair Atkin's D28 basically and it sounds better than many Martins I've tried - I'd say it's most comparable to the HD28V with thunderous bass and rich trebles. East Indian rosewood back and sides, torrified (thermally aged) Sitka Spruce top and ebony fingerboard. Here's the guitar in question so you can hear it -

New these are £2999 so I'm asking £1975 for what is an almost brand new guitar! Both are Located in Bath, I wouldn't want to ship these owing to the fragile nature of acoustics and the unsympathetic nature of most couriers so come and have a play to see what you think!

  • I've got to say, I've played (and purchased) an Atkin J45 today, and it simply blew away all the others I played; and I really mean that...

Already worn in, feels great, not stiff, and of course sounds magnificent.

So, I bet this is a gorgeous guitar too ! GLWTS

  • Hey Waz, congrats on that one - if it was from Coda then I tried it recently and thought "wow" too! The friend I was with was after a J45 and this one destroyed all the Gibsons. Sadly he couldn't get beyond the fact that it didn't say Gibson on the headstock so lost a great instrument. Knowing me I'll probably end up keeping this one and buying one of Alistair's J43s, they are that good. Enjoy!

If my Les Paul sells i’ll jump on the Atkin, they’re superb guitars.

  • They are Jimmy! It's going the way of part ex on Friday but if the Les Paul goes before then give me a shout, the price can go lower. I can see an Atkin J43 in my future at some point!
