Mother of pearl is a complete dealbreaker for me. Suhr headstocks. Active pickups. Tremeloes of any kind. Red guitars.
    Just about got you covered:

Really not keen on tobacco sunburst on anything other than 335's and that Andy Timmons Ibanez sig - I know it's weird!

There's things that I don't like e.g. Paisley Teles, body end truss rod adjustment, wide shallow necks, late seventies LPs that need a crane to lift them, mother of toilet seat inlays.

But there is only one thing that really really really bothers me:  That horrible big CBS Strat headstock.  It's just wrong.  It's horrible

@TheOtherDennis on reflection that was a little harsh. I'd like to apologise to yamaha's, and mums, everywhere. I'll stand by the Firebird though. The horror…

  • floyd rose (or similar guitars) currently have an ibanez s420 guitar.can never fit new strings to one without it (bleep)ing up.

the annoying thing is this isn't my first double locking guitar (you would have thought i'd learn after the first one but no).i don't hate what they do,just the ball ache of fitting new strings, setting up e.t.c.

as for guitars i hate,i don't hate any guitar, but am not keen on strats (especially ones that are red/white/tobacco burst with maple neck).

I'm with @JookyChap on those Yamaha strats (pacifica?) too. So reasonably priced! So reliable! So depressing... It's the guitar your mum would buy you.

    =))

Yes, yes you're right. The basic model is boring as hell. The guitar equivalent of those cars like Micras and Mk ii Corsas you see little old men and women driving.

Jooky chap - I love you to bits, man, but seriously - dc les paul juniors and butterscotch teles? And did you say fret king's? I feel like I just heard that the wife's been playing away..

Sorry man. I forgot about those horrible tobacco burst Strats too, hope that helps
    Yeah, that's better, thanks!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

I don't really hate any guitars.

I do have a dislike of: Gold hardware on Fenders, Pearly pickguards, Over the top pearl binding on Far East metal guitars, Badly proportioned pointy guitars, Many of Gibson's recent designs

Actually, one thing that does get my goat somewhat:

What is the earthly point of having all those extra frets you can't reach? Absolutely idiotic, not to mention ugly.

This is much better - I covet one.

That is very annoying with Casinos... The new Coupe one has much better access.

Some interesting stuff on this thread! Hate seems too strong a word for many of you but I really do hate matt black goth/metal guitars with EMGs in. As well as some of the music they're responsible for... Otherwise, there are guitars I struggle to get on with/dislike the look of, but I don't hate them - like Les Pauls, Jaguars, Burns, jazz boxes etc...

Other stuff I hate that others have touched on though - gold hardware, locking trems, cream neck binding (now I really fucking hate that - looks and feels cheap and nasty)...

They're specifically for tapping, I thought you would like that…

    :)

Either that or the definition of a gentleman is someone who can play up there but chooses not to, and so it's a way of making that easier.

    ;)

This is actually why I liked that Les Paul Signature so much - until the neck gave me hand cramps - I don't like 335s because the neck is too far out of the body to the left, but I don't like 330s/Casinos because I actually agree with you. The LP Signature solves the problem by having the short neck like a 330 but with a deep cutaway on the treble side so you can reach it easily.
