Is it too early to start some chat about how we approached the mix?
ill give you a reminder on the 24th for votes!...
would be good to get some more mixes in...,there was a few folk that requested the files!...
I then duplicated the bass and hi passed one track and low passed the other. I ran each track through helix native, one with distortion from the darkglass pedal emulator into the Mesa bass amp model. The lows I ran into the SVT model then I blended them both together and smashed them pretty hard with a compressor.
The guitars I massively preferred the cleaner track to the distorted one so I ended up creating a fake double of it so I could run it on both sides and then treated the more distorted guitar as a layer. I hi passed all guitar tracks and gave them a touch of EQ to boost some high-mids and cut some particularly abrasive frequencies.
The clean guitar that I liked was really dynamic though and I wasnt compressing the guitar tracks so I volume automated down some of the real loud parts to sit better in the mix.
The solos I put through some delay and compression and let them really poke out through the mix,
For the vocals it was just a little EQ, hi-pass and a little boost at the top then into a compressor which I hit pretty hard and routed via sends to verb and delay.
Whole mix was about an hour, maybe an hour and a half.
So basically used all my standard go-to metal processing tracks but surprisingly I thought it didn't sound terrible despite my methods being pretty inappropriate for the genre
Would love to hear what you and @spark240 did
edit: forgot the snare mics were really out of alignment, so I nudged them together by hand first.

Just a reminder that entry will be closed tomorrow night.
