We’ve got a hostess trolley. Or more accurately, my wife had one when I met her. It must be 40 years old but it still works. It’s actually quite useful, especially at Xmas. It is bloody hideous though.

Did anyone else have a car with a black vinyl roof?  Mine was like the one in the Sweeney, 3 litre V6.  Stopped for speeding many times but back in the 70s they'd let you off with a warning and "mind how you go"!

I had a Rover V8 with a brown vinyl roof. Remember the spray on pretend vinyl-roof-in-a-can?

I did. My first car, a 1980 Fiesta 1.1 which I had in the mid '90s as a 'project'. Faded Sonic blue, brown check seats, chrome bumpers and a natural relic finish. If the Fender Custom Shop made dodgy '80s hatchbacks...

    My father’s Cortina.

The problem with vinyl I believe is that if moisture got underneath it could rot away the car without being noticed until one day the roof caved in. The last production car with a vinyl top was, according to Wikipedia, the Lincoln Continental in 2002.
