I bought Guitarist issue 436 today - first time in years

Years ago I went to a day-long Jimi Hendrix IGF workshop taught by Phil Hilborne, who'd written a study piece. Playing the whole thing seemed a bit difficult/fast at the time, but I from what I remembered, it was a great tune, full of Jimi cliches.

I fancy my chances at being able to play it now so last month, I asked Phil if he remembered the piece and offered to PayPal some money for the music/mp3. He said he'd do it in the next issue of Guitarist - which he has! Good lad.

I also bought the most recent copy, first guitar mag in many a year. I'm rather enjoying it to be honest, I may get them a bit more often again ...

Only slightly off topic, but I'm going to see the Phil Hilborne band tomorrow night, he's playing at the community centre in my village!  I mean, it's really the arse end of nowhere, but I love Phil, I remember reading his columns in Guitarist when I was 14 and just learning to play.

His band is really good, I reckon you’ll enjoy that. Saw a Facebook post recently where his son, who’s 10 or 11, joined them for an AC/DC number. He’s pretty handy on guitar already.
