Deluxe Memory Man preamp level

OK so I'm new with this Deluxe Memory Man pedal so forgive me. I understand that the power light stays on regardless of the unit being on or off (?) however should the preamp still control the volume of the overall chain of peals regardless of being on/off?

In other words, if the preamp level is set at 9 o'clock and the DMM pedal is off this is louder than if the preamp level is at 6 o'clock and the pedal is off. Is this pedal functioning as it should?

I believe the old DMM 3005 chips do this, because they are not true bypass?

Oh OK that's interesting. Thanks for the info.

  • Do you mean the old, mains-powered version from the 70s/80s? I had one and the 'level' control always did something with or without the effect.

With the old ones the signal always goes through. The 90s reissues are true bypass so the signal only goes through when they are engaged. I don't know about the new ones.
