Erm, the Custom Shop appears to have forgotten to run a ground wire to the vibrato claw.

The Fender Custom Shop bases its fake wear on genuine old guitars. I have never seen that pattern of paint loss around the recessed jack before.

The body edge contours do not look right for 1962. I would like to see under the vibrato and scratchplate. I half expect to see dowels filling two holes where threaded inserts for a two-point fulcrum vibrato used to be.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

Partsocaster at best. One of the many misleading Reverb ads. I've given up reporting these now. Too many fakes on this platform, its become like ebay. Its also stuffed full of home dealers masquerading as private sellers and circumventing UK trading laws.
NIce headstock serial number placement there too. Pass.

just a hunch but I dare say the COA was issued with that serial number and at one time was genuine - but neither the coa on its own or indeed the body make it a C/Shop guitar today

    @iain.reverb any thoughts on this?
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I've never seen that type of wear, or level of wear, before on a Custom Shop - maybe some masterbuilt models but not C/Shop

The “top spec wiring” sounds like the only thing from the Custom Shop is the bare body. Also, what the hell is “deep body cleansing”?

I don’t think the ad’s entirely misleading - it’s listed as ‘Condition: Very Good’.

I don’t think many of us would argue with that....

It's a 1993 neck as well, not a 94 anniversary, and you can see the holes/marks from the previous tuners. So much waffle, so much BS badly representing an extremely overpriced partscaster. A seller I'll avoid.

I think they were shipping the 40th anniv banner headstocks on 1993 models to be fair - regular thing for Fender to cross over such events

We got our 40th Anniv badged ones in 1994 when I worked for a Fender dealer.

Nice necks IMHO but that guitar is a load of...

To be fair, in the description he does give a lot of info that shows more of its true colour regarding what it is spec'd as currently - But it is hiding behind the Fender Custom Shop tag that is the big issue IMO - almost using the C/Shop body and COA as the best asset with everything else as a lower common denominator - Yet the whole story lends itself to be careful about the actual body anyway

The advert title is totally misrepresenting. Remove the 'custom shop' part and it would be more honest. It's also very over-priced.
Even if you take the Custom Shop bit out, you still can't call it a Fender, as it (presumably) wasn't assembled by Fender.

Later 1993 models were shipped with the banner headstock logo ready in time for 1994
