I use them to store up to three charged 9v batteries upright. However much you rattle them they can’t turn over or connect their contacts with each other.

Just thought that might be of use to some people

Extra tip - don't store your wire wool in there as well as the batteries

Another good one is the plastic box that business cards come in. You can get them in there side by side so they can't touch contacts.

TOP TIP: Two PP3 batteries and some spare wire wool stored in a cylindrical chewing gum tub makes a handy firelighter if you find yourself without matches when camping.

    A thermionic solution.

How do you get the battery into the tub? Do you coat it in Vaseline/butter/Durex Play or use a file?

I find that the boxes multi-packs of 9v batteries come in are handy for storing gum
