Just realised this sold for $999 ... Utter madness!

goo.gl/L2wFBf

Makes me think, I have the original prototype flux pedal here ...  #1, the one that went viral when I shared the pic. Toying with the idea of auctioning it off ... might raise a reasonable amount? Or should I hold on to it for sentiments sake?

I reckon I'll be building more. Getting settled into family life now. Wait list might be of Analogman proportions though ...

It's great to see such a passion for the craft and not an outright focus on how much you can earn.
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I'm amazed (for months now) that you've spent all this time building clones and not putting out flux delays. It's like having a hit record but no copies to sell at gigs or shops.

Building the odd clone here and there is a lot different to the commitment of doing a larger run of Flux Capacitors ... :-)

Out of interest, how many of each type of Flux pedal have you made?

What is it stopping you making more - money or time? Or both?

    At a rough guess, 70 originals, 20 drive and 40ish V2

Time at the moment. I have a full time job now as my wife will be off work for a while being a mum. So I'm limited to some evenings and the odd weekend for building.

How can you blame time when you own a flux capacitor??? ;)

I'm sure a run of say 50? might be manageable and not ruin you cost wise if it doesn't fly.

But I have to say, I was quite amazed when the Les Paul Forum, promoting online all things Les Paul for the best part of 20 years now, recently decided to do some teeshirts and got a Cease and Desist letter from Les Paul's estate.

    Careful how you go :)

I did check with some reasonably savvy legal types, they said I should be fine as long as I don't specifically mention the Back to the Future franchise in any of my posts. Apparently the  flux capacitor device itself isn't trademarked in any way. So I can make them as props that are similar to the thing used in the film with no problem as long as I don't put the BBTF words on it.

You should be fine with "BBTF".

"BTTF" might be a problem though ;)

I never heard any of the demos was it an analogue or digital delay?

I think the first ones were analogue, the v2 model were digital, then there was a version with three modes: delay, shimmer reverb, hall reverb.
