I think the harmonies make this song.
The verses are just a couple of notes but the rhythm is hooky.
Then the pre-chorus with the interesting harmonies and then the lush chorus shifting harmonies against that monotone.
    All Saints -- "black coffee"

short but oh-so-infinitely sweet. kims deal and gordon are both almighty female singer-bass players.

    the breeders - fortunately gone.

and some may find this sort of thing naff but i have a soft spot for some of those 1960s folky close-harmony things (uk 'seekers' and us 'mammas and pappas') when it's done really well.
and 'georgy girl' is such a great film anyway. lynn redgrave so cute.

    the seekers 'georgy girl'.

'suite judy blue eyes suite' from woodstock live 1969 album is a classic harmony showcase.
i've never really been into them  but i can appreciate the fine technique.

Roland said: Scales are primarily a tool for categorising knowledge, not a rule for what can or cannot be played.
Supportact said: [my style is] probably more an accumulation of limitations and bad habits than a 'style'.

Anything with Simon and Garfunkel both in. I dislike them on their own, but together they are superb

  • So, so much Devin Townsend stuff has amazing vocals across a range of styles.

But here's some really nice live harmonies with Anneke Van Giersberg on a softer track.

One Voice by the Wailin' Jennys and Nothing Compares 2 U by All Angels are two great covers rich in vocal harmonies. Hall & Oates, Bread and Eagles all have superb vocal arrangements.

Low obviously. Less obvious is which song to pick to showcase their harmonic talents... there are so many...

Have a listen to this. It's The Eagles warming up their voices prior to going on stage with a FIVE PART unaccompanied  harmony of "Seven Bridges Road". The clip is janky but it's actually the first few seconds of a two hour documentary which can be found at https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3o5gh8

Note that they actually completely ripped off Iain Matthews arrangement but because it's The Eagles, everyone knows their version instead.

Then there's much less known Ida who's male/female vocal harmony bears some resemblance to Low.
