There's a silverface deluxe reverb in the classifieds at the moment (no affiliation). Depends how loud you need it but my reissue stays clean with a 7 piece ska band

Well I was thinking I needs master volume but if I use pedals for dirt why would I ?

Very happy with a Carr Slant 6V I recently got from a friend, especially if you are using pedals and gigging with it. Extra headroom etc.

Yeah I use pedals for dirt too. It gets nice and compressed at about four or five on the dial and then you're into edge of breakup. It's pretty loud up there.

I've got a SS rectifier in mine and 6L6s so a bit more headroom I think

The verb and trem could work well for 60s soul

  • If you like the idea of the Two Rock enquire with Coda what they would give you for your Lazy J20 on a trade in :-)

I'll be surprised if it'll be what I want for my prised J20 lol

Hmmm no I thought of those but they haven't really tickled my fancy
Why? Have you tried one? You wont find a better clean anywhere. Well maybe an SSS  or a JM Sig, but they are serious coin.

Alternative to a Super Reverb would be a Dr Z EZG, which will cover any base you like with pedals and a decent cab.

Yeah it is ugly I agreed. JTM45 I am wary of due to one going down on me during a gig :(
I would not recommend a real "M"built one..... more like how lazyJ is really a Fender etc etc so one with really good quality parts and build quality.
    M built?
    Marshall!

Isn't that just another 18 watt amp? I'll need more headroom ?

get a second hand twin if you want clean headroom
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

Deluxe reverb would be an obvious choice - and used to record lots of the music in the styles you list.

I'd have thought for £2k you could get a real vintage one, or for much much less a reissue.
They've just released that handwired 64 Deluxe Reverb reissue, I think, that should fit the bill. Any of the Louis Electric BF Fender-style amps with 6L6s also look like a good bet.
