Inspired by the Side 1 Track 1 thread. Obviously bands to lead off an album with a killer track - Metallica for example don't mess around on the eponymous album and launch straight into Enter Sandman, GNR on Appetite have Welcome to the Jungle.
What's harder though is a suitable song to end an album. Something that draws the collection to a close in a suitable way. So what are your favourite album closers?
Here are a few of mine:
Dream Theatre - Awake - Space-Dye Vest
Ghost - Prequelle - Life Eternal
GNR - Appetite for Destruction - Rocket Queen
Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast - Hallowed Be Thy Name
Iron Maiden - Powerslave - Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark - Fear of the Dark
Led Zeppelin - II - Bring It On Home
Led Zeppelin - IV - When the Levee Breaks
Metallica - And Justice For All - Dyers Eve
Ozzy Osbourne - The Ultimate Sin - Shot In The Dark
Pink Floyd - The Division Bell - High Hopes
Slayer - Reign In Blood - Raining Blood
Often these days we get all manner of bonus tracks. And while often welcome they do sometimes spoil the flow of classic albums. The album tastefully draws to a close with the original final track, followed by some obscure b-side or a live version.
