It's watching too many Mary Spender videos that does it ...

    I'm left-handed as it goes...

    That one is sprained.
We have to be so very careful, what we believe in...

I'm not sure handedness is a reliable indicator (another leftie writes)

and play right-handed if I recall?  Good for you.

Never occurred for me to even try left-handed playing.

I tried it both ways (fnarr) but playing right-handed just felt most natural.

I've always wondered if it was a dumb choice at the time, as my right-hand technique is awful (although all my technique is awful, so it's probably not the handedness that's the issue!).  A friend recently acquired a left-handed Squier and I tried that out of interest.  Couldn't even form a chord correctly.

Gents, I've just had the call to go in for an op at fairly short notice (8th).  I am hoping to still be able to come along and play, but I may still be unable to drive or pick up a guitar that soon after.  It may be worth identifying someone to stand in for my parts if I can't make it?  Sorry for the lack of notice and poor timing but I have been waiting for this op for nearly a year and can't risk turning it down at this point.

Bummer, although good you're getting the op, presumably. Where are you coming from? If you're up to attend but can't drive I'll have a spare seat, heading up from Hertfordshire.

No problem @SteveF . Will check what your on and prime the others that they might need to cover.

Im sure @hywelg would be happy to do solo on wishing well, and @shelders can cover Dancing in the moonlight solo.

Does anyone know “wanted dead or alive” solo? Or something similar?

That's great stuff guys thanks.  It's just a hernia op, but I'm led to believe that I shouldn't be lifting or straining anything for a bit so if I can make it I may need to play sitting down - not very rock and roll!

@Snags Thank you. I'm in Cottesmore, Rutland, so probably not really on your way.  That said, I am supposed to be at an event in Market Harborough the night before and staying overnight before travelling up to Leicester directly from there.  It's all a bit up in the air at the moment though.  I suppose it will be a fairly last minute decision based on how I'm recovering to be honest.

@SteveF it would be a bit of a detour, but not impossible if it ends up being the difference between you making it or not (assuming you're in a position to do so healthwise).  I don't need to know until the day before :)

  • @SteveF I can bring my guitar stool along if that's useful. Happy to chuck it in the car

I don't really know any of the songs and with work as it is, I don't think I will have time to learn much. Am I OK to just come down and maybe do some noodling?

Yes no problem - I think there are three rooms for jamming with others. Just find like minded people on the day- we’ll cover that at the intro session at the start.
