First things first, this amp is bloody lovely! The only reason I'm offering it for sale is I've been offered an option to buy something I've been coveting for quite some time so need to raise some funds. It's in mint condition and will be packaged in the original box.

£1700 PPG which includes shipping. Collection from the Exeter area is also possible.

Here's the Boogie demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3mPpdsTnks

(Widebody cab not included in sale...)

Wow x2 - didn't expect a used one of these to pop up so soon!  I'd have to flog a bunch of stuff to swing it though...
Some of the gear, some idea

As an on again-off again Boogie fan for a long time, the Fillmore 50 had been bothering me ever since it was announced - and having tried one of these in GuitarGuitar (and been impressed), I'd say this is Boogie's best for years (unless you're a high gain hound).  Not quite plug and play, but the Fillmore is easy enough to dial in, and the identical channels makes the whole clean/drive thing easy to negotiate.  If I hadn't been so busy buying other lovely things from here, I'd be really interested...

Yeah, absolutely! It's kind of its DNA I guess.

  • I'm happy with my 65 DRRI, but intrigued by the Fillmore. First question is an age old one: are the cleans on the BF Fender side of the spectrum? Second question: what kind of higher gain sounds can it produce?

Not my amp I know, but I'll butt in to provide a few cents worth.  The cleans are great, and very much on the Blackface side of the street.  The gain channel provided me with the classic dilemma that's always seen every Boogie I've bought eventually (often after many years, it has to be said) leaving the building, i.e. I wish the Fillmore was actually a single channel amp (like the old Blue Angel) so I could build the drive side of my tone with pedals.  That said, I do think the second channel on the Fillmore (which is identical to the first) produces an excellent and very organic overdrive...

@dcg what is the disadvantage of a two-channel amp in which both channels are identical, versus a single channel amp?

Surely you can either (a) just use one channel, or (b) set both channels up similarly, but with one boosted slightly in drive / volume / EQ as desired.

    Just curious ...

Yeah, it’s basically a single channel amp... there are just two identical instances of that channel available.

@BintyTwanger77 I’ll compose a full response to your questions this evening :)

    @Lebarque and @BintyTwanger77 ;

Tweed: push the mids, push the gain a bit, treble and bass to taste.
BF: drop the mids, up the bass and treble.

Both the tweed and blackface sounds are thoroughly convincing, and I come from having a LazyJ and Columbia Reverb as my reference points for both. There’s plenty of gain on tap, with the middle switch position aspiring to British flavours, with the far right position being more American.

How I liked to use it was to set the left side as a big, bouncy, blackface style clean, and the right hand side as a pedal platform (I used the Helix)... sounded great.

I was initially sceptical about the C90 speaker being an OEM inclusion in this amp and immediately tried it with Jensen and Creamback loaded cabs... and, the C90 won hands down, it’s a great match. MB have voiced this amp perfectly for the venerable C90.

I’ve had around a dozen Mesa’s and Boogie’s over the years and I reckon this is the best amp they’ve come out with in a good long while. I’d dearly love to keep it but doing so might initiate a bout of marital strife I could well do without.
