That's why I am gassing for a Lp , I also want to learn slide and having one properly set up for slide would be very useful.

Great result, How can a guitar get in the way if it’s hanging on the wall? Sounds like permission for as many guitars as you have wall space for!

  • Congrats on the green light :)

I had a similar conversation recently.  I said, "I'm thinking of buying a guitar".  Before I got the chance to rush on with, "it's a cheapie, only about £100", she said, "cool!" and moved on :)

Ok guys, I have decided to man up and discuss it with her first, I think she will be cool about it, the last acquisition was a Peavey Deuce, she kind of sarcastically kind of said ''well that's big, isn't it'' but she grew to love it, every other night, I mean who in their right mind can deny the sweet sound of someone practicing scales wafting through the house or the drunken attempts of a wannabe rock stars midnight soloing soaring through the heavens at 11 o'clock on a Saturday night? I mean really?
Does my amp look big in this room?

At least she's not worried about the cost .... yet.

  • My wife once conned me into selling all of my guitars to buy my 'dream guitar. Somehow I never quite raised the money I needed.  It turns out she just wanted me to 'declutter' and I fell for it.
You'll be pleased to know that the collection has now fully recovered including a jcm800 and 4x12 in the backroom of our terraced house. And yes. She's still with me.

Just got off the phone and it's probably not my appendix, that's a relief, docs in the morning to get checked out, hopefully the seller will get back to me soon, another couple have popped up for similar money.

So here it is, 1995 Epi LP, needs a bit of a clean up and fret polish, new strings, my side is in absolute bits so I wont be playing it , too much, but looking forward to getting it all set up.

That is good news. It just leaves the equally delightful prospect of gall or kidney stones. Ouch! Expletives deleted.  B)

I've had a wee play and the action is super low but there is zero neck relief, it's totally flat, no real string buzz either, the nut is worn but it's real easy to play, very refined compared to my Tele, neck feels very thin too, feels like it needs to be played gently.

Go up a gauge. The increased tension should create some neck relief and avoid the need to work on the nut. Obviously, this change is likely to oblige you to adjust the intonation.

I've got a set of 10s here for it but I think there is 10s on it anyway, I don't mind tweeking the truss if I have to but if it ain't broke. I'll probably replace the nut at some point. I just have to figure out which guitar Im going to set up to learn slide on.

So Ive cleaned it all up and put the 10's on it, it was sat overnight with no strings to I will leave it a day or two to rest and adjust before fiddling around with the truss.
One thing I did find was very worn saddles, the groove is worn quite deep and the saddles do look like they are made from cheese. Ive been advised to look at Faber ABRM bridge replacements and they do look like a decent option but before spending the cash on modding it I will wait to make sure it is right for me first.
Pickups are stamped Sam on the neck and Sam Sung on the bridge, quite bright/shallow sounding, nice barking sound with over drive so Im quite liking them. Neck feels very thin, really very thin but it also feels kind of refined to the Baja, lower action, thinner neck, feels slinky. Pots seem to be the cheap all or nothing, jack needed sorting, finish looks worn and has sank into the grain in places but in a good way.
Ive come to the conclusion that its a Honey Burst, but darker than todays offerings. Tuners feel cheap but work well, could just be the plastic bits. Nut isnt too bad but will need doing at some point.

Cam with a nice old case as well, an old Freestyle case, so , all in all I'm really happy to have another Lp in the house.
