Interesting they'd use his name to market pickups when his tech claims to use eq to make all of his guitars sound like a les Paul.

It seems like the anti aftermarket pickup statement.

Thats what they say .They are made to sound like his Les Paul in a single route

Funny thing is a lot those classic ZZ Top tones were not achieved by pickups like these and his Pearly Gates LP was not used exclusively in the studio. His Broadcaster and hardtail Strat were just plain old single coils as heard on Jesus Just Left Chicago etc.

  • Just sounds like pimped strat to me. Not getting les Paul vibe from it at all

Sound awesome to me. I’d go for those if I ever get a second strat.

I'd be buying them - Hate thin, wussy single coils.

  • I was interested to read that the Red Devil specs are not the same as the Custom Shop Pearly Gates for Stratocaster models. With both "BG" models, the big deal is the use of an alnico magnet rather than the ceramic on the Li'l '59, Li'l Screamin' Demon and JB Jr.

I suspect that, on a screwed-on neck guitar, the illusion will fail above the fourteenth fret.

You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.
