Mesa of some sort wanted. I've got a budget of £1500ish (not much higher), preferably a head but if it's the right amp then I won't turn down a combo.

Mesa have quite a broad range of styles of amp. Rectifiers and Mk series are what they're most famous for, which are both high gain heads, but voiced quite differently. I'd suggest trying to narrow down what you're looking for otherwise you'll probably get a load of offers for amps that might not suit you.
