What’s a nice warm/vintage sounding delay....

What's Hot

... for about £150?

Really just for ambient delay as opposed to rhythmic effects. Don’t need tap tempo.

Thoughts?

  • Digitech obscura, can do that and other lofi delays. Digital, but has a versatile control set, and cheap.

The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

  • Minifooger Delay sounds lovely, should be able to pick up a second hand one for under £150.

I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

Thanks for the suggestions all. YouTube explorations are leading me to either the Carbon Copy or Deep Blue. I don’t really want modulation, but with the CC it would be nice to have the switchable option. But then looking at demos of the Deep Blue I see Matt Schofield using it pretty much exactly how I’m likely to do...as a leave-on tone filler.

    Boss DM-2W
    MXR Carbon Copy

I own both but I think the Boss is slightly easier to use and control IMO. A more refined control setup. Will self-oscillate and it's easy to control it.

Plus, it is Boss and it is bombproof. The MXR can be a little fiddly and self oscillate a little too quickly....still a lovely tone.

I used to get a footswitch click off the CC.

I have a Skrystrup multi fx all in one, and he's used the DM2w in that.
