adding fretmarkers to Ebanol?

OK, this is probably mad ...... I was considering picking up a Squier deluxe active jazz bass to play around with. They have an Ebanol fretboard, and I was considering trying to add block fret markers as I really like that look. I'd probably have to refret as well but what the hell. Tell me it won't work and I'll forget it!
