Question regarding these guitar shows. On the adverts for them I always see the word trade. In reality how easy is it to actually trade at them?

I've got a CS Strat I'm not getting along with but don't want to carry it about all day to get looked at like I've got two heads for suggesting trades.

I suppose the first thing is to find a guitar at the show that is of interest to you and then see if they will allow a sensible price on your Strat

If you want to bring it in and leave it at my stand whilst walking around then that will be fine

Then see how it goes - as with any show or indeed shop, some dealers will be interested and offer a sensible price whilst others won't find it of interest

  • I may bring along my Gibson Les Paul Classic Lite 120th anniversary in 2 tone sunburst if there is any interest in such a guitar.
It’s had about 5 hours worth of playing so immaculate condition.
Not really looking for anything in particular but open to anything interesting really.

Have you decided what your “special price” will be yet?  :)

I'm hoping to be there, although the 'sensible' thing to do would be to go into work as it's v. busy. But as I have no sense whatsoever, I'll probably be there.

I think the R9 will be finding its way to eBay, tbh (was going to message you!), particularly as my last little dabble with the L-5 Signature and ES-5 looks like resulting in keeping both and I could do with reducing numbers and replenishing cash! The L5, in particular, is wonderful. I'll definitely have a look at the Byrd though, although the scale is always a shock when first picked up! Wine red's a lovely colour for it. There was one for sale in Northumberland recently that matched the description - couldn't quite do a deal on it, plus I had the Epi Elitist Byrd. Will be there though, all things being equal.

mine came from a customer in Halifax so unlikely to be the same guitar - How much did they ask for it

It was a 1998, so not the same one - just checked my old messages. They started it off at £5000, but the price came down to £4000 in the end.  They're lovely guitars, but are obviously a bit specialised in terms of target audience. I like them though.
