Music theory is a love/hate thing for a lot of people.. Love the potential it has for really understanding music - but hate trying to learn it!
There are some resources though which actually do a good job of bringing the theory to life. A few of my favourites:
- DaveConservatoire.org: Short KhanAcademy-style videos explaining pretty much everything in music theory, in a down-to-earth way.
- MusicTheory.net: Nice interactive lessons/exercises for learning and practising theory
- HookTheory.com: Cool interactive tool for exploring chord progressions and scale degress, using pop and rock music rather than classical, and syncing up with YouTube vids so you're using the real music, not just simplified synthesised versions.
Have you come across any others which actually make music theory appealing?
