Sold - 2002 Mexican Jazz Bass VGC
As listed Ive recently picked up a lovely 2002 Mexican Jazz Bass but Id prefer a short scale Mustang . .
I'll post some pictures of my Jazz Bass but its a Dark Candy Apple Red or possibly Candy Cola with a Rosewood Neck - Pickups & Electrics are sweet. Strings are OK but Id prefer flat wound if I'm to keep it
Its got on micro dink on the rear and a couple of tiny scratches on the front, none of which are obvious or ugly.

If you are not a badge snob, the Sire V3 is a lot of bass guitar for not a lot of money.

On closer inspection, the extra money paid for nicer hardware, better pots and a less flexible neck. The Squier truss rod struggles with heavier string gauges.
For my tastes, the maple neck and "soft maple" body version of the Squier was the most versatile. It had snap when needed and could be mellow courtesy of the tone control. By comparison, the rosewood fingerboard, agathis-bodied examples seem to be permanently mellow.

PEDANTRY CORNER
All Mustang Basses are short scale. (A 34" scale length model would defeat the object somewhat.)
The other thing to specify is the pickup and controls harness. The vintage design has one split pickup but does not sound like a Precision bass. The recent model has PJ pickups. I like the soapbar humbucker pickup on the Squier Mikey Way signature bass. It is easily upgraded with an EMG35-sized series pickup and fancy EQ, if desired.
Value wise, I was looking at £400 or very very close due to its great condition. It will come with a poor gig bag and a stand . .
The strap that's on it is off my guitar so that stays . .
Im selling it to fund the purchase of one of the newer PJ Mustang Bass's, they retail from around £480 . . .
Im a guitar player first but I do love to play Bass . . . I love the Jazz Bass I have and Im happy with it but Id prefer a shorter scale as I dont have the biggest paws on the planet . . Pictures attached . .

Some earlier examples of the MIM Fender Standard Jazz Bass came with two 90mm pickups, making it difficult to retrofit the majority of aftermarket pickups.
EMG capitalised on this situation by creating the special order -MJ Set - essentially, a pair of their short -J pickups.
