What are your views in comparison?

Are they similar?

I have heard that they do sound slightly different?

What Is the verdict.... Currently shifting one or two pedals and thinking if to save up the extra and look out for a Klon KTR (which by the time I have done, They may be hitting 4 digit prices haha) or do I just go for the ARC Klone v2 ?

Ive owned both John. The Arc is superior, in every way. The KTR is overrated imho, and indeed, so is the whole 'klon' thing.

All Klons work best, remember, on driven or loud amps 'live'

The Arc v2 is very well made

I bought @Wazmesiter Arc Klone V2 for this very comparison. The KTR is long gone and the ARC has never left my board.

It is a nicer pedal, can't really remember what the difference's were now as it's been a while since I sold the KTR, however I remember it being an easy choice as to which one to keep.

Just as an aside, I don't use mine into a driven amp, I use it as a clean boost into an overdrive pedal so as to get a solo boost, makes every other pedal sound better in my opinion.

Looks like I may save myself a few hundred quid to put toward an original TS9 I got my eyes on and just purchase the ARC klone

I really would try one of these pedals with your amp before buying.
I've never tried a Klon circuit with an AC30- no idea if it will work for you or not.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • The klones I've tried have been fairly dire overdrive pedals. They're more of a clean boost, when the gain goes up, they're bright and nasty.

Into an ac30, I imagine it'd be a bit ear-shredding, but never tried it.

Having owned a Silver Klon Centaur, Klon KTR and and ARC KLONE V2 simultaneously, the ARC is very very similar to the Centaur - about 95% of the way there. The KTR came a distant 3rd, not in the same league as the other 2 IMHO. Needless to say I sold the Centaur for a ridiculous price on ebay and now have the ARC KLONE V2.

For a fraction of the price the arc is probably a good bet.

I don't know how much you've seen a KTR for but I know of one for sale for around £400.

They go for £400-450 now, which is a bit mad.

KTR prices might come down at some point:

It might not be this month, but I think there will be a new batch at some point.  I wouldn't spend £400 on one now.

I'll believe it when I see it.
We've heard this over and over and over again.

Having A/B all three side by side, this is the TRUTH !

The KTR was miles behind the other two in sound and 'feel'. The ARC v2 was very very close indeed.

A Klon in to an AC 30 works very well, especially on the normal channel

@voxmanjohn, I have been on a similar Klone hunt in the last few weeks, doing lots of research, reading too many opinions and watching too many YouTube vids! I thought I was going to get an Arc or a mythical overdrive but stumbled on the pedal projects Klone. Small size, quality finish and from the YouTube video it was nigh on identical to a real Klon in a head to head YouTube video. Order placed last night!

  • I was under the impression it's a well known circuit, so I'd expect most standard klones to be identical.

Other folks actually improve on the original - or modify it at least - I think the kingslayer is one.
