I have a JTM45 currently paired with a 1936V 2x12 cab.

Wanting to step up to a 4x12.............which one would be a good match for the JTM45? I was thinking 1960AX with Greenbacks - any good? Or would you go non-Marshall?

I am not young enough to know everything

  • EVH 4x12 is another nice option for greenback 4x12s.

But personally I'd go used for 4x12s and pick the first one that's an appropriate spec, they tend to be pretty reasonably priced second hand as 2x12s are more popular these days.

I had a JTM45 and a 1960ax and it sounded great. Also played it through a vintage modern 4x12 which I think from memory had the same speakers as the Hendrix stack - also sounded great!

I agree - buy 2nd hand. 4x12s go for virtually nothing. Currently have a HK 4x12 with greenbacks, and it`s also a great cab, although slightly heavier to move than the moon.

Why not a semi open 4x10. Sound killer and less awkward to lug. You'd have a nice 59' bassman vibe going.

I like the Marshall 1960/1960a.  beefy!
